SFTA Novice AV Stake 2018 | 16th December 2018

With snow and high winds forecast for later in the day 15 "runners went to post" for the first SFTA Novice stake to be held in some time. Emblehope was the venue and the dogs were hunted through forestry blocks and white grass/rushes in challenging winds.

The judges Mr John Bailey, Mr Roy Ellershaw, Mr William Drummond and Mr Matt Farrish were expertly guided around the Estate by Head keeper Mr Raymond Holt.

All dogs were given ample opportunity to show themselves with rabbits, Pheasants and snipe being retrieved.

The trial was brought to a climax at 1230 hours with a two dog run off.

Winner Mr D Stewart with WC Wildrose of Woodburn.
Second Mr J O'Neill with ESS Helmsway Hotspot.
Third Mr J O'Neill with ESS Bishwell Bridget.
COM Mr J Reid with WC Glenugies Unraivie.
COM Ms J Thatcher with ESS Smithson Nero.

This brings the SFTA's 2018 Spaniel Trial season to a successful end. We wish the winners of the Associations qualifying stakes Mr Jim Adamson winner of the Open Spaniel (ex WC) and Mr Martin Smee winner of the Open Cocker all he best of luck at their respective Championships in January 2019.
