On Tuesday 22 November 2016 the SFTA were due to run their Open Cocker stake under the kind permission of Eskdale Shooting Services. However such was the ferocity of the storm that raged from 0200 hours in the morning that all the bridges were washed away and local rivers burst their banks rendering the event unable to be completed . With the assistance of the kennel club and the management and staff at Eskdale shooting service the trial was rearranged for Monday 12th December 2016.
Under the guidance of Steward of the beat Mr Gavin Hannom, Headkeeper a wide range of game came to hand on the Tollis hill beat with rabbits, pheasants and hares being supplemented by a large number of woodcock.
The judges Mr Malcolm Taylor and Mr Bill Johnstone found their winners as follows:

3rd Mr J Bailey with Windmillwood Kate
4th Mr M Mole with Greengates Hurricane
